About

You must be pretty bored if you’re reading this page!

My name is Adam, I’m 27 years old and I’m a web designer based in the UK. I’m originally from London but relocated to Newcastle upon Tyne when I started University and have stayed here ever since because I love it.

I’ve been designing websites professionally for about ten years now. I first went online when I was about 14 years old and, having always had a love of all things creative, it wasn’t long before I got into designing websites. I had originally wanted to be some kind of animator or illustrator* and I still dabble with these things as part of my work.

My favourite part of web design is Flash - I just love using Flash to create buttons, animations and various bits and bobs for websites. It gives you so much creative freedom and it allows me to do bits of animating and illustrating, which I have always loved.

I am also an absolute HCI freak. For those of you who don’t know what that stands for, it’s Human-Computer Interaction and is basically the theory behind interface design. It’s a very broad and complicated science and can go pretty deep sometimes - there’s a great deal of psychology involved - but that’s why I love it.

I take great pride in creating (or at least trying to create!) interfaces that are not only aesthetically pleasing, but actually do their job. There are a lot of people who claim to do this but not many actually do - my aim is to be one of the ones who do.

Most of my time is spent designing, building and maintaining websites for clients. I also spend a lot of my spare time coming up with ideas for websites and businesses. Most of these ideas get canned and never come to fruition, although from time to time I do get round to actually turning an idea into reality.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog. If not, tough luck! If you have any thoughts or suggestions, please feel free to bore me with them.

Take care

Adam

*Strictly speaking, I had originally wanted to be a pirate. This was, however, just a phase.
